Ira Buhot-Perry (AOCA, Material Art & Design, 1972)

My initial intention in attending OCA was to open a boutique upon graduation.

My fondest memories were learning the various new skills, solving interesting problems presented to us; sharing ideas with my like-minded peers and making new friendships.

Steve Choi (BFA, Drawing & Painting, 2014)

I chose to attend OCAD University because I really like the atmosphere around its innovated space where I am dedicated to take my studies to the next...

Meghan Ciliberti (BDES, Advertising, 2010)

I chose to attend OCAD University because my dad has always spoken very highly of his years at OCA, and I have always been inspired by the level of creativity in his design &...

Catherine L. Smillie Frisch (AOCA, Drawing & Painting, 1963)

As a child I always wanted to be an artist as my mother was an artist and her friend Elizabeth Bradford Hallmark a renowned sculptor and alumna of OCA would encourage...

Ruth Flower-Davies (AOCA, Design, 1977)

I chose to go to OCA after having experienced a year at another community college. OCA had instructors that were working commercial artists. Any magazine that I opened usually had work by one of the instructors...

Karen Krupa (AOCAD, Material Art & Design, 1997)

I chose to attend OCAD because of its reputation as a great art school. IT had excellent facilities and instructors in the textile studios.

My fondest memory of my time is the month of May curing last thesis year. It was intensive and I was inspired to work as hard as I could.

Marie (Jet) Maitland (AOCA, Design, 1988)

I was accepted into OCA at age 44, An immigrant from the Netherlands to Toronto. My fondest memory is travelling with Ted Mallman: Japan – Paris- Como. What I learned at OCA and still use today is to look critically at the world and to make creative use of colours, thanks to Renate.

Edward Turvey (BDES, Environmental Design, 2012) & (AOCA, Fine Art, 1974)

Visual ambition brought me to THE ONTARIO COLLEGE OF ART in 1969. The early 1970's thrust the Cybernetic Ascot years upon us: no courses and teachers. It became a time of self reliance. All shops were open to all for learning & discovery.

Patricia Wheeler (AOCA, Communication & Design, 1955)

I am from London Ontario. I Studied Art at Alma College St. Thomas, fine art and H. B. Beal Cl. London special Art and decided to transfer into 2nd year at OCA. My fondest memory of my time at OCA is meeting my husband, and lifelong friends, (most gone now).

In memory of Bill Wheeler (AOCA, Advertising & Illustration, 1955)

as told by Patricia Wheeler.

Bill – from Thunder Bay – was always drawing – His Dad was the Architect for Port Arthur. His fondest memory of OCA was making good friends.
