How do I borrow materials from the library?
Bring your OCAD U ID card to the Dorothy H. Hoover Library to borrow physical materials, such as books and periodicals.
Electronic materials, including journal articles, eBooks, databases, images, and videos can be accessed through our library catalog and our Databases A-Z page.
How long can I have the materials for?
Most circulating books can be borrowed for 120 days. Note that loan periods vary for different items, including items from other universities. Check My Account to track item due dates and email circulation@ocadu.ca if you have any questions.
How do I renew books?
Log into My Account with your OCAD U ID and follow the instructions provided. Feel free to stop by the library as well to renew books in person.
Note that restrictions may apply to certain materials, including reference books and materials from other university libraries. Contact circulation@ocadu.ca if you have any questions about renewals.
Can I borrow Course Reserves items?
Course reserves are materials set aside by instructors for course readings. Course reserves are for available for in-library use for two hours. Visit the circulation desk at the Dorothy H. Hoover Library to access these materials.
Can I borrow materials from other university libraries?
By searching our library catalogue and selecting “OCAD U Library + Omni Libraries,” students can borrow library materials from our partner university libraries in Ontario and pick them up at the OCAD U Library.
Students can also borrow circulating materials from other university libraries through interlibrary loan by submitting a request through this form.
