Supporting student well-being and mental health is a priority for OCAD University.
The Student Wellness Centre (SWC) is a multidisciplinary team that provides supportive and accessible mental health and wellness supports for students year-round. These include low barrier options through drop-ins and peer initiatives, urgent same day availability, single sessions, scheduled appointments, and 24/7 access to a student support program.
Student Accessibility Services (SAS)
Accessibility Services supports all OCAD U students with temporary and permanent disabilities. After completing a registration meeting with an accessibility advisor, students get personalized accommodation plans to elevate their learning and break down barriers while studying at OCAD U.
Counselling and Case Management
SWC offers single sessions, short term and urgent counselling and case management. Working together, we’ll identify your goals and navigate your path to well-being with compassion and support.
Student Care
OCAD U offers students an excellent health and dental plan. Coverage is provided by Studentcare. If you are registered in at least 1.5 credits in both the Fall and Winter Terms, you're automatically opted in to the plan. You can make changes to your coverage during the first month of classes by opting in, opting out, or adding dependents to health and/or dental plans.

Need support for your physical or mental health? Meet with an SWC physicians and/or psychiatrist. UHIP, OHIP and out-of-province health cards are accepted.

International students
Are you an international student? Find out about UHIP coverage and OCAD U’s supplementary health and dental plan, provided by Studentcare. UHIP is a mandatory health plan for all international students studying in Ontario. Studentcare offers extra services not covered by UHIP, like dental check-ups and prescription medication. For further support you can also connect with the OCADU International Student Support office.
