VFS Exchange

Are you interested in a year-long exchange at VFS in one of their exciting animation or games programs?

 

OCAD University Experimental Animation students can enrol in the following Vancouver Film School Diploma programs in their 3rd year of study (VFS production year):

  • Classical Animation
  • 3D Animation and VFX
  • Animation Concept Art
  • Game Design
  • Programming for Web, Mobile and Games.

The VFS production year is equivalent to 5.0 OCAD U credits, and the duration of the VFS production year for each student under the program will be for (12 months) of study, starting between May and August. Students who complete the VFS production year will receive a VFS diploma independent of the completion of their OCAD U degree.

Tuition and Fees

  • OCAD U students are eligible to compete for any of the VFS’ annual public, merit-based scholarship competitions.
  • OCAD U students pay VFS tuition and fees during the VFS Production Year (rates subject to change)

Application Process

  • Send a letter of interest to the Faculty of Art Office including your name, OCAD email and outlining which VFS program you are interested in and why. Include your preferred date of departure (Month between May and August, calendar year). Applications are open between November 1st and December 31st.
  • The application process for OCAD U students does not require a portfolio review and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Attendance at an info-session with Student Advising is highly recommended prior to enrolment in the production year, to ensure you are aware of your progress upon return from VFS.
  • You must demonstrate that you are in good academic standing in May, prior to starting the production year at VFS
  • You must apply for the VFS production year at least 6 months prior to commencement, within the posted deadlines.
