Karen Krupa (AOCAD, Material Art & Design, 1997)
I chose to attend OCAD because of its reputation as a great art school. IT had excellent facilities and instructors in the textile studios.
My fondest memory of my time is the month of May curing last thesis year. It was intensive and I was inspired to work as hard as I could.
What I learned from OCAD that I still use today is to say yes – try everything. You never know where a new skill or contact will lead you.
Today I am a textile artist, and my artistic practice consists of creating wall hangings. I also am involved in Interior design work. design work here and there, which is always fun.
The message I would like to pass onto current students is take courses in other disciplines – cross pollinate your work with new techniques and materials.
