Ozzie Ciliberti (AOCA, Fine Arts, 1972)
Ozzie is an award-winning designer and photographer who began his career at Central Technical School graduating in 1968.
While there he studied a variety of fine art subjects such as, drawing and painting under the instruction of many great teachers and mentors including Doris McCarthy, Audrey Garwood and many others.
Given the storied history and the renowned faculty at OCA, there was no question as to why he chose to attend.
He received advanced standing and graduating with an AOCA in 1972 majoring in Fine Arts. He studied painting with William Ronald, Tom Hodgson and other artists, as well as enrolling in additional programs in Advertising, Design and Illustration with Archie Arbuckle, Bob Mitchell and other industry leading professionals.
During his years at OCA, he worked part time in the Creative Communications Department at Maclean Hunter.
On graduating he held the position of Art Director at Freer Graphics. In 1975 became partner at Exograf Design Studio, leaving 7 years later to join a new Reidcorp Advertising in 1982.
In 1988 he completed the Advertising Management Program at the Canadian Institute of Advertising (ICA) earning his certification as a Canadian Advertising Agency Practitioner (CAAP).
One of the 3 founding members and Senior Vice President/Creative Director of Reidcorp Advertising Ltd. in Toronto/Montreal until 1998, working on variety of national consumer and business-to-business campaigns for clients such as Johnson & Johnson, Jamieson Vitamins, Procter & Gamble and the Department of National Defence.
In 1998 he founded and is currently President of Vision Design & Advertising Inc.
Primarily, his focus has been in Design and Photography and has won numerous Toronto Art Directors Awards and Sheppard Awards for Advertising Campaigns and Design. Numerous photography awards, National Association of Professional Photoshop Guru Awards for Commercial Advertising, Photo Imaging, Web design.
Ozzie won “Best of Show” at Photoshop World, Las Vegas for photography. Recently, he has won “Best of of Show” for a “Travel” photo taken in Southern Italy as well as, “Best of Show in X-Rite’s “Landscape” category.
He continues to participate in numerous group and solo shows that focus on his watercolours and photography.
Ozzie taught Advertising and Marketing at Seneca College for 12 years, is the currently the Vice President of the OCADU Alumni Association and devotes his time in promoting OCAD U to up and coming artists and designers.
