The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) is an artist-run charitable organization dedicated to facilitating excellence in the moving image through media arts education and production resources. LIFT exists to provide support and encouragement for independent filmmakers and artists through affordable access to production, post-production and exhibition equipment; professional and creative development; workshops and courses; commissioning and exhibitions; artist residencies; and a variety of other services. LIFT offers over 150 workshops per year covering all elements of filmmaking, as well as numerous youth and community education programs.
OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers is excited to announce a recruited placement in partnership with LIFT for the role of Designer-in-Residence. LIFT is looking for an independent and enthusiastic emerging designer to come on board for a six-month contract that would allow them the opportunity to help redesign key public assets for the organization, including both online and print materials. The Designer-in-Residence position is intended to provide an upper-year student with the opportunity to gain experience designing for a medium-sized charitable organization. This is a fantastic opportunity for OCAD U students interested in building skills in arts communication, marketing, and education with a long-standing arts organization. The role will be a combination of on-site and remote work. This opportunity with LIFT is made possible through funding from the Cultural Human Resources Council’s (CHRC) Student Work Placement Program funded by the Government of Canada. We recommend those interested in applying read LIFT’s Code of Conduct.
The OCAD U RBC CEAD is committed to promoting substantive equality for equity-seeking groups that are under-represented in the creative sector. We encourage applications from first-time applicants to the program and graduates of equity-seeking communities including racialized and Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities / expressions. Applicants are welcome to advise the CEAD of any accommodations needed to ensure you have access to a fair and equitable process.
