Coffee Chats is a series of virtual casual gatherings with the CEAD team with industry guests. Hosted virtually in small intimate groups, these gatherings will provide a space for group conversations with practitioners who are interested in supporting OCAD U students and grads to offer mentorship, and share their professional insights and journey, while collectively creating an online community.
Tanya Kan is the Executive Producer and Director of Vivid Foundry, a Canadian game development studio creating dramatic games that reflect the social changes of our time. Tanya has worked in the Interactive Digital Media industry for 8.5 years, creating digital media for an amusement park ride, fashion storefronts, real estate, Autodesk, guest lecturing for Universities, and providing narrative consultation for games like Celeste and games production consultation for Ryerson University’s Transmedia Zone incubator. At Vivid Foundry, she is currently developing the award-winning Solace State, a cyberpunk choice-driven drama game about young hackers and activists speaking truth to power in a militarized biotech city-state. She has spoken at events including Different Games, Indiecade, TIFF Industry Conference, Game Devs of Color, Twitch.tv’s The Indie Discovery Show, and EGX x PAX 2020.
Tanya is open to talking about: challenges of running a studio; Game pipeline challenges; Balancing between development, admin, marketing...and health; Emphasis on diversity as everyday practice in our works; My indirect career path leading into developing my own game title; How I fell into pitching my own project.
