Coffee Chats is a series of virtual casual gatherings with the CEAD team with industry guests. Hosted virtually in small intimate groups, these gatherings will provide a space for group conversations with practitioners who are interested in supporting OCAD U students and grads to offer mentorship, and share their professional insights and journey, while collectively creating an online community.
Mary Ratcliffe is the Founder of Mary Ratcliffe Studio (M.R.S.). Compulsively building since she was a child, Mary Ratcliffe grew up in her father’s workshop and has been a maker of things all her life. After attending the Ontario College of Art & Design, and working at a number of Toronto studios, Mary went on to establish her creative practice in 2013, consciously launching M.R.S in 2018. Mary’s work has an elegant toughness. Her work is imbued with a love for the ying and the yang, the feminine and the masculine, the soft and the rough. To say that ‘it’s in her blood’ is an understatement, it’s also on her clothes, under her fingernails, and quite often on her face.
This Coffee Chat is co-presented with the OCAD U Office of Diversity, Equity & Sustainability.
