Join OCAD U’s Indigenous Student Centre (ISC) and the RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD) for a special in-person edition of Coffee Chats with Jordan Bennett on Thursday June 9, 2022 1-2 PM EDT at Onsite Gallery.

This event prioritizes the attendance of Indigenous OCAD U students, alumni, and community members. Wearing a mask indoors is mandatory on OCAD U campus. 

Jordan Bennett is a Mi’kmaq visual from Stephenville Crossing, Ktaqamkuk (Newfoundland). He lives and works on his ancestral territory of Mi’kma’ki in Terence Bay, Nova Scotia with his partner in life and art Amy Malbeuf. Bennett’s ongoing practice utilizes painting, sculpture, video, installation and sound to explore land, language, the act of visiting, familial histories and challenging colonial perceptions of indigenous histories and presence with a focus on exploring Mi’kmaq and Beothuk visual culture of Ktaqamkuk. https://www.jordanbennett.ca/

Coffee Chats is a series of casual gatherings with OCAD U’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD) and industry guests. Hosted in small intimate groups, these gatherings provide a space for group conversations with practitioners who are interested in supporting OCAD U students and grads to offer mentorship, and share their professional insights and journey, while collectively creating a community.
