The Global Studio Series is an initiative led by the International Programs & Collaborations Office at OCAD U, designed to foster international collaboration and provide professional development opportunities for emerging artists and designers.
Through workshops, webinars, and collaborative projects, the series connects OCAD U students with global partners and peers, highlighting diverse artistic practices and innovative approaches to sustainability, materiality, and storytelling. By working with creative professionals from around the world, participants gain valuable insights, build global networks, and enhance their skills to thrive in an interconnected creative landscape.
The Global Studio Series exemplifies OCAD U’s commitment to empowering students as leaders in the international arts and design community while promoting cultural exchange and sustainable practices. Artist Calls 101: A practical guide to artist calls and submissions
Join Sanaa Humayun, artistic director of Hamilton Artist Inc., for an online webinar that equips emerging artists and designers with essential tools to craft compelling applications for artist calls, covering bios, statements, imagery, and responding to themes with confidence. Call for Artists and Designers – Stories We Tell – International Collaborative Zine
Explore mythology through art and design in this international student-led zine, a collaborative project inviting OCAD U students and global peers to reimagine ancient stories and create new myths while building connections and showcasing their creativity. Open to all current OCAD U students. Non-OCAD Participants must be current students enrolled in an academic institution that holds a partnership with OCAD U. Stones Across Cultures: A Sustainable Art Exchange and Ceramic Workshop Series
Take part in a unique intercultural workshop in collaboration with Professor Emeritus Kouan Hashimoto of Joshibi University of Art & Design, where students mail stones to Japan to be processed into natural pigments and use them in a hands-on ceramic's session led by artist and project lead Jasmine Cardenas to create sustainable, natural pigment-infused small-scale ceramics.
