Please join us in celebrating research excellence at OCAD University!
Date and Time: Feb 05, 2025 4-6 PM.
Location: 701-205 Richmond St W.
Each year, OCAD University recognizes faculty members for their innovative contributions to research with the presentation of awards that celebrate distinguished and early-stage research activities. Dr Haru Ji is the recipients of the 2023-24 Award for Distinguished Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity.
Dr Haru Ji will introduce her research project and installation series Artificial Nature, an art research project that explores artificial ecosystems as shared realities. The project aims to shatter the human-centered perspective of the world and deepen our understanding of the complex, intertwined connections in dynamic living systems. In this talk, she will trace the evolution of the project over the past 17 years, focusing on its mechanisms of change, development, and emergence, and how collective creation processes and discourse have shaped and influenced its growth. Finally, the latest integrations of the project with artificial intelligence (AI), fungal, and neural networks will be reflected upon.
This event is organized by the Office of Research and Innovation.
