In The Making

In The Making - IAMD First-Year Exhibition

March 11 - 17
Opening reception on March 11, 6 p.m.
Great Hall, Second floor, 100 McCaul St., Toronto

Join the IAMD graduate students in celebrating their new exhibition In The Making.

An exploration of art in flux, where every creation is a journey, and every stage holds meaning.

In the Making invites audiences into the often unseen stages of artistic exploration, offering a rare glimpse into the process of creation and transformation. This collective is not just a presentation of artistry but a reflection of the choices, challenges, and intentions that shape it. Each piece—whether in its nascent form, midway through construction, or nearing completion—reveals the fluid and ever-changing nature of creation itself, demonstrating the interplays between action and production.

Art is rarely born in a single moment; rather, it is the result of countless experimentation, revisions, and discoveries. This exhibition highlights the act of metamorphosis and celebrates the vision of first-year graduate students in the Interdisciplinary Art, Media and Design program. By showcasing works in progress, In the Making blurs the boundary between studio and gallery, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in the shifting narratives of each work.

Featuring interactive installations, paintings, sculptures, soundscapes, and participatory interfaces, In the Making transforms the exhibition space into a dynamic environment where experimentation is as vital as the outcome. Here, creation is not just a means to an end but an experience in itself—one that invites viewers to witness, question, and engage with the very essence of artistic practice.
