Ignite Gallery proudly presents its 4th annual Installation Award Exhibition, featuring four emerging artists whose spatially ambitious practices expand the boundaries of installation art. This year’s awardees: Luisé Cisneros Alavez, Gabriel George, Ariane Labbé, and Jason Mendiola, engage with themes of identity, collectivity, perception, and cultural legacy, transforming space into an active site of exploration and reflection.

Jason Mendiola’s Caesura creates a rhythmic interplay of movement and stillness, inviting viewers to consider the tension between organization and disorientation. Luisé Cisneros Alavez navigates the complexities of queer, immigrant identity through performative interventions in public space, challenging colonial structures of control. Ariane Labbé constructs tools for perceiving nature’s indifference, questioning how we inscribe meaning onto our surroundings. Gabriel George reimagines the sacred tradition of Theyyam through a contemporary lens, blending heritage and sustainability to honor ancestral craftsmanship.

Through immersive installations that reframe personal and collective experiences, these artists transform material and space into sites of dialogue, storytelling, and resistance. The 2025 Installation Award Exhibition is a testament to the power of spatial practice in shaping how we see, remember, and exist within the world.
