IGNITE GALLERY PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD 2025  - CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The Ignite Gallery Photography Award is open to all Photography majors, at OCAD University regardless of year level. Recipients of this high-profile award will have their work featured in a striking 8-foot-high mural along the east wall of the Ada Slaight Exhibition Center. This yearlong exhibition, running from July to the following June, provides an opportunity to showcase artistic excellence on a grand scale.

Awarded photographers will demonstrate outstanding skill, vision, and innovation in their field, reinforcing Ignite Gallery’s commitment to fostering and celebrating emerging talent.

The award includes:

·         A year-long exhibition, showcasing your work to a wide audience.

·         Social media promotion to highlight your creative achievements.

·         A prominent 8-foot-high mural displayed along the east wall of the Ada Slaight Exhibition Center.

·         The unique opportunity to be a striking part of the daily landscape within a dynamic and supportive creative community.

Selection Process:

All applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee in mid-June. 
The mural will be installed by Creative Silhouettes Installers (dates: July TBD, 2025).

Required Information:

1.      Contact Information: Full name, phone number, and OCAD email address.

2.      Program Eligibility: Photography majors at all year levels are eligible.

3.      Artist Statement: A concise and thoughtful statement outlining your practice and artistic vision.

4.      Image Submission: A selection of up to 10 images of your work.

-    Works in landscape orientation will be considered for a solo mural.

-    Works in portrait orientation will be considered for a group mural.

5.      Image List (if applicable): Include an image list with corresponding dimensions and materials for each piece.

6.      Submission Format: Submit the PDF file with all required materials. The file should be titled with your name (e.g., GarfieldArbuckle.pdf) and emailed to: ignitegallery@ocadu.ca.
