The Cultural Policy Hub at OCAD University invites students, recent graduates, and emerging artists, designers & cultural workers, including those both affiliated and not affiliated with OCAD U, to join us in a community conversation on Tue Mar 12 2024 at 1:00PM in the RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD), Rosalie Sharp Pavilion at 115 McCaul Street, Level 3! 📣
Our 'Emerging Artists Community Conversation: Needs, Experiences & Futures in the Cultural Sector' is a opportunity for emerging artists of all practices and backgrounds to come together and share lived experiences, obstacles, needs, apirations, and envision flourishing futures in the art world.🔮🎶🎨🎭🏺
The stories and knowledge shared within this community conversation are meant to inform the next10-year Action Plan for Toronto’s Culture Sector being developed by the City of Toronto, the Toronto Arts Council (TAC),Toronto Arts Foundation (TAF), & Monumental Projects.
By holding space for meaningful conversation around the current cultural landscape, we hope emerging artists and cultural worker can come together to offer advice and propose actionable ideas for nurturing a supportive cultural ecosystem that better responds to their own individual and collective pressing needs for the next 10-years in Tkaronto/Toronto. 🚀🌌
The conversations will be facilitated by Tkaronto/Toronto-based emerging artists and cultural workers, to be announced shortly. They will guide us through conversations on the present and future of the following important cultural sector topics:
a) Space & affordability
b) Funding & resources
c) Employment conditions & gig work
d) Skill sharing, mentorship, & networks
e) Equity, access, & cultural redress in the cultural sector
Accessibility: The Cultural Policy Hub is committed to ensuring our events are as accessible as possible. The event space at the RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD), Rosalie Sharp Pavilion, is completely wheelchair-accessible, with elevators to transport guests up to our gathering on Level 3. Wearing a mask is optional and up to you.
