Please join us for the Crossing Fonds symposium in Metro Vancouver and online from April 25-28, 2024.   

Crossing Fonds will explore trends in digital archival practice, including the Crossing Fonds platform for collaboration between archives; critical digital archives practices including an ethics of care; Indigenous data sovereignty; collaborative tools and methods, community-centered collections created for and with equity-deserving communities; media arts conservation and archives. Case studies that “cross fonds” Black Labour and Culture History in the Greater Vancouver Area, Women’s Labour History: Restaurant Work in the Greater Vancouver Area, and the Indigenous Media Arts Group and IMAGeNation Aboriginal Film and Video Festival Archive. Panels feature archival projects from IBPOC, queer and trans, and disabled communities and digital technology leaders.

Building on a two-year SSHRC Partnership Development grant https://crossingfonds.com/ producing partners are OCAD University, Simon Fraser University Archives, Library, Special Collections and Rare Books; City of Vancouver Archives; VIVO Media Arts Centre; and BLAC.

Pre-conference symposium workshops will include hands-on training in collaborative annotation, visualization, and cataloguing tools.
