Call for Projection Artists @ Canada Malting Siloes, Nuit Blanche 2025
The European Union Delegation to Canada in partnership with the Global Centre for Climate Action at OCAD University is pleased to invite artists residing in Canada and in the European Union to develop a site-specific projection artwork for the Canada Malting Silos, located on Toronto’s waterfront, to present at Nuit Blanche on October 4, 2025.
The European Union Delegation in partnership with OCAD University is pleased to invite you to submit a proposal to our Call for Projection Artists for presentation at the Canada Malting Siloes in Toronto, Ontario, during Nuit Blanche on October 4, 2025. Proposals are asked to respond to the theme, Water Treaty, which explores the concept of entering into a new treaty relationship with bodies of water.
The Canada Malting Siloes are a heritage industrial building that has recently been restored and repurposed for arts, culture and community programming. Last year was the first time the site was mapped for artistic presentation. Nuit Blanche is Toronto’s annual all-night celebration of contemporary art, transforming public spaces into artistic landscapes. The festival, featuring local, national and international artists, draws over 1 million visitors from across the GTA each year.
As the European Union and Canada deepen their collaboration through initiatives like the EU-Canada Ocean Partnership under the Green Alliance, this call for proposals becomes more than just an initiative—it is a testament to our shared responsibility to protect the planet’s biodiversity. At the heart of this commitment lies water, the lifeblood of all ecosystems, shaping landscapes, sustaining species, and weaving together the delicate balance of life on Earth.
