Animation Synopsis
Gregor Samsa, an earnest young clerk, wakes from sleep to find that he has somehow become a verminous insect - a monster, to all appearances. He retains his human sensibilities, however, a fact that goes unrecognized by his family, who generally shun him. He is brokenhearted by this. He finds that certain familiar habits have changed, such as his taste for favourite foods being now replaced by cravings for foul, rotten substances – providing yet another reason why his family is repulsed.
Alone in the dark shadows of his room, but now able to scurry up and down the walls, Gregor can embrace his one comfort, a portrait of a Lady in Furs whom he has loved forever. As well, his love for his family remains constant through it all - particularly towards his sister, Greta, who is skilled at playing the violin. It was Gregor’s intention to fund her admission to a conservatory of music. Now all of that must pass, except for in his fevered fantasies where all his good intentions are acted out.
