The Faculty of Art Summer Institute, initiated in 2013, brings together exciting course offerings, research and studio practice in an environment that fosters exchange, dialogue and connection with the community. The intention is that the Summer Institute becomes a learning model for consideration of new forms of pedagogy within the artist studio.
- To promote and support faculty research practice
- To advance the professional development of faculty
- To create a more dynamic summer learning environment for students
- To recognize faculty contributions
- To promote dialogue between faculty as practitioners and teachers, both internally and externally
- To connect with the wider community
Selected faculty/researchers have been awarded studio space to enliven the campus from June 17 to August 10, 2024. Promoting the OCAD U research culture and creating an environment that supports leading practices and innovation in the field of contemporary art.
The group exhibition at Ada Slaight Gallery presents the developing projects as a report on the termination of residency, which will inform how the new projects would move forward. Faculty Participants: Judith Doyle, David Griffin, Ursula Handleigh, Simone Jones, Vladimir Spicanovic.
