Linda Martinello’s practice explores the intricate relationships between sensory perception and our connection to the natural world. Her site-based landscapes are composites of geographic and geological details encountered during her travels. Merging history, geography, and architecture, Martinello translates her experiences with natural and built environments through a merging of memory and imagination. Using oil and graphite on layers of flexible drafting film, she opens up the physical and social histories of place, offering new perspectives. Her resulting paintings capture the essence of these environments, resonating with the dynamic energy of the natural world.

Martinello is based in rural Caledon. She completed her MFA at the University of Waterloo and an HBA from the University of Toronto. Her work is featured in prominent collections including Cadillac Fairview, BMO Financial Group, TD Bank, CIBC Collection and TELUS. She is the recipient of several awards and research grants, including the Canada Council for the Arts and a 2022 La Napoule Art Foundation Residency in the south of France. In fall 2022, she completed a major public art commission for Cadillac Fairview in the TD Centre Tower lobby in downtown Toronto. She is represented by Nicholas Metivier Gallery in Toronto.
