Cheryl Giraudy B.Arch. MSc. OAA MRAIC Associate Professor, Environmental Design is a practicing architect and academic researcher engaged in inclusive design research for equitable built environments. Cheryl held posts as Associate Dean in the Faculty of Design from 2008-2013 and Interim Graduate Program Director, Masters of Inclusive Design 2015-2016. She holds an MSc. in Design from Salford University, UK related to, inclusive environments informed by accessible wayfinding, and materials selection and application.

In 23+ years of teaching at OCAD U she has supported and lead inclusive design efforts with course-based projects as well as local, external and international partnerships among her academic and granted work. Her participatory research focusses on BIPOC youth and communities across Toronto that have been underrepresented in decision-making for development of the public realm with the aim to foster co-design strategies for placemaking along with the accessible navigation of them. Course and research based projects included work with Toronto Community Housing Corporation, Bayview Hospital, Rexdale Youth Mentorship, and Colloqate Design, New Orleans, US.

In professional work, Cheryl has contributed to the provincial association of architects (OAA) as Chair, Honours and Awards bringing about new annual award categories such as Best Emerging Practice. Cheryl was a long-time consultant for international facilities planning organizations employing ASTM Whole Building Standards for large facilities such as government and corporate offices, embassies, and more.

Cheryl also maintains a small residential design practice in Toronto, focussed on adapting renovations for ageing in place.
