April Hickox is a Canadian Artist, educator and independent curator who lives on Toronto’s Wards Island. She has been producing art for over 40 years, with work that includes photography, film, video and installation.
April’s work is often based in narratives, the passage from one experience, to another in the life process encompassing history, memory, and site. She is a dedicated environmentalist and is interested in our relationship to wilderness in urban culture, land stewardship, land renewal and sustainability.
An active cultural and community leader, she is the founding director of Gallery 44 Center for Contemporary Photography, and a founding member of Tenth Muse Studio, and Artscape.
