OCAD U students in the Strategic Foresight and Innovation and Digital Futures programs have received multiple awards in the globally recognized Association of Professional Futurists (APF) Student Recognition program.

The APF competition receives submissions from futures and foresight programs around the world. This year, OCAD U submitted five projects for the Masters Individual and Group categories. There are three recipients total for each category. 

This year, Masters Individual awards went to Digital Futures grad Patricia Mwenda, who received first place for her Masters thesis and Strategic Foresight and Innovation grad Nicole Brkic, who placed third for her Masters Research Paper (MRP). 

In the Masters Group category, Nathalie Robertson and Doug Reid placed second for their Foresight Studio final project, and Joanne Nedeljkovic, Liam Mooney, Tim Sun and Chris Wilson placed third for their Foresight Studio final project.

OCAD U x SickKids Research Institute Exhibition - Call for Artists

OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD) and The Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute (SickKids RI) have partnered to co-create an exhibition in the Great Hall at OCAD University on November 16-27, 2026. The CEAD and SickKids RI are inviting emerging artists to submit existing works for consideration. The responding artworks to be curated will be in dialogue with captivating scientific images or videos from SickKids Research Institute. 7-9 successful artists will each be paid a $500 Artist Fee.
