You can earn your Master of Design (MDes) in Strategic Foresight and Innovation in two ways
- An online, part-time, three-year program
- An in-person, full-time, two-year program
What you’ll learn
You will develop essential design-thinking skills—analysis, synthesis, and strategic and creative thinking—critical for professionals across public and private sectors. Hone your expertise in foresight, such as identifying future challenges, and master advanced research methodologies through this dynamic program.
The program will enable you to:
- Explore and test innovative methods of organization, creation and production from a human perspective
- Develop strategic, innovative and anticipatory solutions (strategic foresight) and implementation plans for design, business or policy innovations, or for organizational or infrastructural change
- Navigate complex problems and find solutions that will lead to the development of new and sustainable futures
Tuition and fees for the Strategic Foresight and Innovation program are significantly lower than MBA programs at Toronto universities.
Both the online part-time program and the in-person full-time program will cost approximately $20,000 for domestic students. International students will pay approximately $50,000 (CAD).

In addition to the general application requirements, you must meet either of the following academic requirements:
- Degree: You should hold an undergraduate degree (e.g., BA, BFA, BDes, BComm, BEng) or an equivalent qualification with a minimum average of 75% (B+) in the final two years of your undergraduate studies.
- Alternative Qualification: If you don’t meet these academic requirements, relevant experience or expertise in a related field is also considered.
You’ll also need to submit the following materials:
- Statement of Intent (1000-1200 words)

Submit 3-5 pieces of work that best represent your skills, experience, and interests. This could include professional, personal, or creative projects. - Current CV

Design for Health

You can earn your Master of Design (MDes) in Design for Health in two ways
- An in-person, part-time program
- An in-person, full-time, two-year program
What you’ll learn
In partnership with world-caliber hospitals, healthcare-research institutes, and a thriving technology cluster you’ll design multi-disciplinary solutions for real-world challenges, including:
- The emergence of new infections including epidemics and pandemics
- Chronic diseases including mental health and addictions
- An aging population
- Health inequities including disparities in access for care for structurally marginalized individuals and groups
- Creating inclusive and healthy built environments
- Global health initiatives and access to medicines
- Patient and caregiver-oriented care planning and delivery
- A shift to multi-setting and multi-disciplinary health-care delivery including digital health and telehealth

Inclusive Design
Flexible and affordable – advance your career with in-demand inclusive design skills
You can earn your Master of Design (MDes) in Inclusive Design online or in-person in this hybrid delivery, full-time, two year program.
What you’ll learn
In the Inclusive Design program, you will learn to think differently and aim to break through societal barriers to address the growing demand for access and inclusion. You’ll also explore equity and access issues through the lens of human-centered design, through the application of inclusive digital technologies.
As a student you’ll have access to OCAD U’s Inclusive Design Research Centre (IDRC), an international community of open source developers, designers, researchers, educators and co-designers who work together to proactively ensure that emerging technology and practices are designed to be accessible and inclusive.
