June is Pride Month, and OCAD U is celebrating all month long with events and initiatives on and off campus!
Whether you are a current student, alum, faculty or staff member, you are invited to show your pride and celebrate the 2SLGBTQ+ community at the events below.
June 13 all day | #DisplayYourPride
Show off your creativity and decorate your office, a student space, a door, create an artwork, paint your face, coordinate outfits— whatever works for you, your space and your team. On June 13, post your display on social media using the #DisplayYourPride and #OCADUPride hashtags, and tagging @ocaducampuslife and @myocadu on Instagram for your post to be re-shared. OCAD U is thrilled to be participating in this event alongside Toronto Metropolitan University, York U, UofT and Humber College.
June 13 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. | DIY Pride Shirt: Wear Your Pride
Pick up an OCAD U t-shirt from Admissions & Recruitment and attend the DIY Pride Shirt community craft day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy refreshments and redesign your shirt using supplies provided or bring your own.
June 21 5 p.m. onwards | OCAD U Pride Drinks at RendezViews
Join your OCAD U Pride community for drinks at RendezViews Patio. All are welcome!
June 22 1 to 4:30 p.m. | SU Pride Party
On June 22, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., the OCAD U Student Union is holding a BBQ in Butterfield Park to celebrate Pride Month. This event is open to faculty, staff and students.
June 23 3 to 5 p.m. | Queeratorial Project Reception
On June 23 at 3 p.m., head over to stackt market for an Artist Talk and to see student work under creation as part of the Queeratorial Project, led by duo Tony Macarena (Lorena Canales and Alejandro Olavarri). Tony Macarena is working with a group of 10 students on two exhibition projects, one in Toronto and one in Mexico City.
June 23 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. | Trans March
Wear your upcycled OCAD U t-shirt and take part in the 2023 Trans March. Join us at Church St. and Charles St. E. at 7 p.m. or take part in the march wherever you see us! While allies are welcome to join, please respect the importance of this space and leave room for Trans folks to celebrate at the front of the march.
June 24 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. | Dyke March
Wear your upcycled OCAD U t-shirt and take part in the 2023 Dyke March. Join us at Church St. and Isabella St. at 2 p.m. or take part in the march wherever you see us! While allies are welcome to join, please respect the importance of this space and leave room for folks who identify as Dyke or Lesbian to celebrate at the front of the march.
