The RBC Centre for Emerging Artists and Designers is excited to announce Mehnaz Lamia as the recipient of the Arts Etobicoke Project Coordinator 2023 Career Launcher.
Mehnaz Lamia: “My name is Mehnaz Lamia (Mia) and I am an international student from Bangladesh. I am a recent graduate of the Creative Writing program at OCAD University and have an avid passion for poetry and storytelling. As a poet, I work with languages which highlights my lived experiences but also opens up the dialogue for others to share about theirs in a safe space. My work revolves around healing, amplifying our collective voices and inclusion of narratives that are often erased by colonization. I believe that our collective voices have such an impact and together we can make vast social and structural changes.”

Arts Etobicoke is a not-for-profit charitable organization that focuses on improving people’s lives through the arts. They have developed an inclusive and creative community hub that is open to all people in West Toronto. They believe in providing equitable access to the arts regardless of economic or social status. Arts Etobicoke is a place where everyone can freely express their art and culture through our programs, exhibitions, workshops, events, classes, and professional development.
Mehnaz will join the Arts Etobicoke team as a Project Coordinator to support their community art classes, outdoor events and workshops. Arts Etobicoke offers programming in a variety of mediums for all ages and levels of interest, from professional to emerging artists, hobbyists to community seekers. Their programming is diverse in discipline and accessibly located throughout Etobicoke, providing opportunities for everyone to engage with the arts in whichever way they feel comfortable.
