OCAD U’s Alastair MacLeod receives 2019 ORION Leadership Award

ORION, a not-for-profit organization committed to supporting Ontario’s researchers, educators and innovators, has awarded Alastair MacLeod, Chief Information Officer, OCAD University, with a 2019 ORION Leadership Award. The award was presented to MacLeod today at a ceremony during the Advance Ontario Conference, a three-day conference looking at the future of innovation and technology in research, education and industry.

Awards are presented to those who have made an exceptional impact in their respective communities by make use of ORION’s digital tools and solutions. MacLeod, OCAD U’s Chief Information Officer for the past 21 years, was recognized along with eight other technology leaders from eight post-secondary education institutions in the Higher Education category. The group includes representatives from Brock University, Humber College, Laurentian University, Niagara College, Queen’s University, St. Lawrence College and Wilfrid Laurier University and is part of the shared Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) pilot initiative, which aims to increase cybersecurity preparedness in Ontario colleges and universities.

ORION’s annual Leadership Awards recognize outstanding achievement and innovation by those using ORION’s digital infrastructure and services. Award winners are determined based on nominations from ORION’s user community across Ontario and evaluated by ORION’s Leadership Award committee.
