OCAD U LiVE launches Season 4
OCAD U LiVE is back and better than ever with a lineup of brand-new shows and returning favourites. With titles like The Macramist, The Student Wellness Show and Second Life Studio and over 100 hours of content the platform has something for everyone.
The 24/7 digital streaming channel is by students, for students. Season 4 can be accessed any time via the platform’s on demand page.
What began as an effort to create community remotely during the pandemic has become a go-to spot for OCAD U content creators all year round. OCAD U LiVE has grown into not only a broadcasting platform, but a space where students can build skills in media production.
“As an international BIPOC student, I’ve been able to use the platform to celebrate diversity and inspire other students like myself to pursue their creative practice. I’m able to do what I love thanks to OCAD U LiVE and create community through my show,” noted third-year Creative Writing student Mehnaz Lamia, who is the host and creator of Morning with Mia as well as the Max and Mia Show.
Content creators on the platform are compensated for each episode they make and have access to professional equipment including for lighting, recording and editing at a dedicated studio at 49 McCaul St.
"OCAD U LiVE is an amazing opportunity for artists and designers to create video content that is personal, experimental and meaningful, while reaching an audience of like-minded creatives,” commented Isaac Mosna, a graduate of OCAD U’s Advertising program.
“As a creator and designer, I really enjoyed producing content for OCAD U LiVE and learned some great skills about production along the way that I apply in my work today," he continued. Since graduation Mosna has amassed over 250,000 subscribers on YouTube.com.
The platform’s creative direction is led by an advisory committee composed of students with support from Leonardo Dell’Anno, a Canadian Screen Award-nominated Producer who has worked in the entertainment industry for over a decade.
