COVID-19 safety: 5 things you need to know

There have been a lot of changes recently in provincial public health measures, and we want to make sure that students, faculty and staff are aware that OCAD U is maintaining its health and safety protocols to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 on campus.  This is especially important now with a slight increase in hospitalizations.

So, here are the top five things you need to know about coming to campus and our safety protocols:

  1. Stay home if you are feeling sick or show any COVID-19 symptoms. We ask that you err on the side of caution and do your part in keeping each other safe and help to reduce the transmission of COVID on campus.
  2. Before you come on campus, complete the COVID-19 self-assessment on the OCAD U Safe App. You will need to do this every time before coming to OCAD U. This is a great self-assessment tool and if you are showing symptoms or you are ill, please stay home.
  3. OCAD U is maintaining its vaccination requirement. OCAD U, along with other Ontario universities, is maintaining its requirement for students, faculty and staff to provide proof of vaccination. For students planning to enroll in spring/summer courses, if you haven’t submitted your proof of full vaccination, you won’t be able to register for in-person courses.
  4. Wearing a mask indoors is still mandatory. Wearing a mask remains one of the effective measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. So, when you are inside OCAD U buildings, you must wear a mask.
  5. Get boosted! OCAD U expects all students, faculty and staff members to get boosted. We have a walk-in vaccine clinic on campus on April 7. So, be sure to upload your booster to the OCAD U Safe App or on the alternative web page so that your vaccination status is up-to-date.
