Call for Applications: Sustainable Futures Faculty Fellowship

Sustainable Futures Faculty Fellowship Program (SF3) – Call for Applications

 We are in a critical decade to play material and cultural roles in the collective tackling of the climate crisis. Let’s foster sustainability in teaching and learning at OCAD U where each student graduates with wholistic knowledge of sustainability and an ability to apply this knowledge in their practice, employment, and scholarship.

Fellowship Summary
The Sustainable Futures Faculty Fellowship (SF3) program aims to deepen student inquiry and learning into sustainability by supporting faculty to pursue, document, and share their research findings on innovative pedagogical approaches towards sustainability at the undergraduate level.

 Up to three fellowships will be awarded for the pilot program in the 2023-24 Academic Year. Fellowships will be reviewed by a jury of faculty, academic staff, and student members and awarded on a competitive basis.

 Working as part of a collaborative and multi-disciplinary research team, Fellows will receive a course release (0.5 credit) and access to research assistance to:

  • Develop pedagogical approaches to sustainability;
  • Conduct course-based research, reflection, and analysis on their chosen approach to incorporating sustainability into their course; and
  • Participate in knowledge sharing activities (e.g., community of practice, mentorship, faculty professional learning events) with the research team, other Fellowship program participants, and with the broader university community to support the development of sustainability across our teaching and learning context.

Fellows will conduct course-based research in an undergraduate course that they will teach in Fall 2023. Proposals for courses taught in Winter 2024 will also be considered, though Fall 2023 courses may be prioritized to enable a cohort of Fellows.

Application details and submission guidelines can be found on the Sustainable Futures Faculty Fellowship page.

Course-release time is available to Tenured/Tenure-Track, Teaching Intensive, Continuing, and Contractually Limited Term Appointment faculty.
