Meet Visiting Elder Liz Osawamick - Thursday November 17 12PM-4PM
On Thursday November 17, Elder Liz Osawamick will be available to meet individually with Indigenous OCAD U students, faculty and staff IN-PERSON! Faculty and staff are asked to contact rkennedy@ocadu.ca to book a session. Indigenous OCAD U students please click here to register!
Sessions will be held in a private office in the Indigenous Student Centre. A few things to note for your appointment:
- Masks are required in the ISC at all times. We have both disposable and reusable masks available.
- Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment and notify staff when you have arrived
- We will be hosting a breakfast on Thursday November 17 from 9am-12pm, snacks and beverages are available all day
- Tobacco offerings and other medicines are available in the ISC should you wish to access them for your session
- Sessions may be extended, and additional times may be added depending on availability
Elizabeth (Liz) Osawamick is an Anishinaabe Midewiwin-kwe community leader, Water Walker/activist, jingle dress dancer, devoted parent and professional teacher. She is President of Anishnaabemowin Teg, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, teaching and developing Anishnaabe language and cultural pride. A leader of the Kawartha area Water Walks under the guidance of Elders Dr Shirley I Williams and the late Nookomis Josephine Mandamin, Liz has dedicated her life to her people, her language, the lands, and the waters.
