Faculty of Art Student Town Hall with Guest Speaker Esmaa Mohamoud 

To welcome the Spring season, the Faculty of Art is hosting a Student Town Hall with guest speaker and OCAD U Alumni Esmaa Mohamoud. Join us for pizza, refreshments, and exciting conversation! 

Jana Macalik, Acting Dean of Art will lead a discussion with Esmaa, where she will share her artistic journey and perspective on contemporary art practice. Following the talk, the Dean will lead a Q&A and discussion with the audience. Through feedback and story sharing, this salon-style event aims to understand the student perspective of being in the Faculty of Art, as well as the student experience and understanding of contemporary art practice.

  • Time: 6:30pm – 8:00pm 
  • Location: 100 McCaul (MCA), Auditorium 190 
  • Pizza and light refreshments will be provided. 
  • No RSVP required.

About Esmaa Mohamoud 

Head shot of Esmaa MohamoudEsmaa Mohamoud (Canadian, b. 1992), is a Toronto based African-Canadian artist. She holds a BFA from Western University (2014) and an MFA from OCAD University (2016). Recently, Mohamoud has exhibited in at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, New York, the Albright-Knox, Buffalo, New York, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Canada, the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, Canada, the Museum of Fine Arts Montreal, Montreal, Canada. Upcoming solo exhibitions include: Let Them Consume Me In The Light, Kavi Gupta Gallery, Chicago, Illinois, and To Play in the Face of Certain Defeat, travelling from Museum London to: Art Gallery of Hamilton, Ottawa Art Gallery and Winnipeg Art Gallery, and The Art Gallery of Alberta.
