Creating In the Greyscale

Date/Time: Thur. Sep. 14, 5  - 7 PM

RSVP: https://bit.ly/CreatingIntheGreyscaleWorkshop

Location: Virtual

For many creatives, intellectual property (IP) is often described as “a really uncomfortable thing”. It can be stressful, overwhelming, and every situation is unique. How can we unpack this discomfort to tackle difficult, but necessary, IP conversations with care and respect? How might personal contexts, interests, and values play a role in advocating for the value of your work?

Join us for an interactive workshop that explores how to:

  • Leverage IP assets (copyrights, trademarks, and patents) to protect and foster a creative practice
  • Navigate collaborations and contracts with more confidence
  • Have difficult conversations about needs and wants for your practice

As a group, we will learn about essential IP concepts, dive into a roleplay game to think through scenarios with peers and learn from each others’ experiences, and begin generating a collective toolkit to embrace and navigate complexities. This workshop expands on the case studies from the resource "Creating in the Greyscale: Navigating Intellectual Property as an Emerging Artist or Designer (pdf)"

NOTE: A link to join this virtual event will be sent to attendees closer to the event date.
