Coffee Chat w/ Sequence21 Studios

Coffee Chats is a series of virtual casual gatherings with the CEAD team with industry guests. Hosted virtually in small intimate groups, these gatherings will provide a space for group conversations with practitioners who are interested in supporting OCAD U students and grads to offer mentorship, and share their professional insights and journey, while collectively creating an online community.

Sequence21 is devoted to providing opportunities for young film enthusiasts. We pride ourselves in presenting impactful stories through filmmaking and media production to reinforce the importance of storytelling. With a focus on customizable film and multimedia productions led by skilled specialists, we will continue to push boundaries. We'll be joined by Daniel Tika and Bhreagh Campbell from Sequence21.

Daniel Tika is a Canadian film director, producer, editor, and writer based in Scarborough, Ontario. Having studied film production through OCAD University’s Integrated Media program before graduating with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, he is now focused on producing visually and conceptually rich video work through his production company, Sequence21 Studios. Currently acting as Chief Operating Officer at Sequence21, Daniel works to support the company mission of bringing opportunities to young film enthusiasts so they may enrich their portfolios with consistent client work, develop their skills with the guidance of industry professionals, and create a business network of their own.

Daniel would love to talk about: Transition from art school to the business world, overcoming imposter syndrome, establishing a network by supporting your community, and the incredible barrier to entry into the film industry.

As a former graduate of OCAD’s Integrated Media program, Bhreagh Campbell has many practices. At school she explored sound, video art, and printmaking before completing her thesis, an occult film about vampires and witchcraft. She currently works freelance as a social media manager, video editor, production assistant, sound technician, and other creative odd jobs. She’s the President of Sequence21 Studios; a video production company founded and operated by two other OCAD graduates.

Bhreagh would love to talk about: Artistic collaboration with peers, transitioning from school into a career, what to expect after you graduate, working from home, motivating yourself in a pandemic, and anything related to witchcraft and film!
