More than 30 participating artists taking part in the Art With Heart annual auction are former OCAD U students or current/past faculty members. Art With Heart, presented by TD, is the 26th annual auction of contemporary Canadian art in support of innovative HIV/AIDS care at Casey House.

This year, OCAD U and Walker Longo & Associates LLP are sponsoring lot 17 - April Hickox’s work, Provenance Unknown. Lot sponsors commit to generously match the sale price of a lot with a donation to Casey House, doubling the power of art to provide compassionate HIV/AIDS care. This matching lot is being made in honour of a longtime patron of Art With Heart, Peter Milligan, who passed away last fall.  He was a great supporter of OCAD U and worked for Walker Longo & Associates LLP.

"I am honoured to donate this work and see it matched in the name of Peter Milligan, who I admired greatly and who was so generous in his support of both Casey House and OCAD University," said April Hickox, Associate Professor, Faculty of Art, OCAD University. "Peter was big in stature, towering over the crowd at events, but he was even bigger in heart. I miss him. Thank you to Walter Longo and Associates LLP and OCADU for the matching funding in support of HIV/AIDS care at Casey House."

The evening features a live and silent auction of prints, paintings, drawings, textile and sculptural work by some of the country’s foremost established and emerging artists. A preview reception before the live auction gives guests the opportunity to see each work in the collection and choose what they love before raising their paddle to bid. The collection of contemporary works, selected by a committee of passionate and knowledgeable volunteers from the art community, may be viewed here.

Art purchases support interdisciplinary health care at Casey House, a purpose-built facility in Toronto, including inpatient and day health programs, social community and outreach.
