OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION
OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers and SEQUENCE, are excited to announce the SEQUENCE Career Launcher Program. Three 3 emerging creatives from OCAD U, will be selected to join the SEQUENCE team as freelance collaborators for their 2024 projects. SEQUENCE is seeking (1) a video producer who is skilled in videography and editing, (1) a photographer and (1) a graphic designer.
SEQUENCE is a vibrant ecosystem run by a growing artist collective, created to support creative entrepreneurs, often younger or older artists without the resources, network, experience, or mentorship to sustain their passion practice. Our goal is to alleviate the stress of starting up by introducing independent creatives to a career/brand-building platform designed to satisfy the primary needs of emerging creatives: increasing revenue and building brand awareness. Our evolving catalogue of services consists of business development mentorship, networking events, job opportunities, equipment raffles and giveaways, project funding, merchandising collaborations, partnered social media campaigns, and much more on the way.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Selected candidates will be contacted with creative briefs and projects suited to their skill set throughout the year as new projects emerge from SEQUENCE.
Video Producer:
As a Video Producer at SEQUENCE, you will bring creative concepts to life, collaborating closely with our executive team to develop and execute original short films, marketing media, and commercial productions for our diverse range of clients. Key responsibilities include:
- Conceptualization and Planning: Work closely with the executive team to brainstorm, conceptualize, and plan video projects that align with monthly objectives.
- Project Management: Oversee the entire video production process, from pre-production planning to post-production editing. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment by working seamlessly with the creative team, in studio and online, ensuring that everyone is aligned on the project's goals and vision.
- Innovation: Bring fresh and innovative ideas to the table, staying current with industry trends and technologies to elevate the quality and impact of SEQUENCE.productions.
- NOTE: Having your own equipment is always preferred but not mandatory.
Photographer:
As a Photographer at SEQUENCE, you'll work closely with our creative studio to produce behind-the-scenes photos, product and lifestyle content, and commercial productions for our clients. Your role involves:
- Visual Storytelling: Use your keen eye for detail to tell visual stories through photography and photo editing, capturing the essence and mood of each project.
- Collaboration with Creative Studio: Work with a production designer to craft unique sets for pop-up photoshoots and ensure that your photography complements the overall visual aesthetic of the project.
- Client Interaction: Engage with clients during shoots to understand their vision and deliver photographs that exceed their expectations.
- Adaptability: Be adaptable to various shooting environments, from studio setups to on-location shoots, to effectively capture diverse content.
- NOTE: Artist must have their own camera kit and must be willing to use an array of different cameras.
Graphic Designer:
As a Graphic Designer at SEQUENCE, you'll be at the forefront of visual storytelling, creating engaging and impactful visuals for films, marketing assets, and advertising campaigns. Your responsibilities include:
- 2D Animation and Compositing: Develop original 2D animations and compositing projects for films, seamlessly integrating visual elements to enhance storytelling.
- Collaboration with Art Director: Work closely with an Art Director to execute creative concepts that align with SEQUENCE's artistic direction and client expectations.
- Marketing Assets: Contribute to the development of marketing assets for our advertising team, ensuring brand consistency and visual appeal.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize adobe creative cloud to bring your creative visions to life and contribute to the overall success of SEQUENCE projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current OCAD U Undergraduate/Masters student or recent OCAD U graduate (2022, 2023)
- Experience in one or more of the following fields:
- Video Production
- Photography
- Graphic Design - Proven experience in your respective field
- Strong portfolio showcasing your creative skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Previous experience with client work is an asset
- Priority will be given to students anticipated to graduate in 2024 in addition to first-time recipients.
RATE
$25/hr starting. Minimum of 48 hours during the contract term.
TERM
Part-time freelance contract. February - December 2024 (11 months)
